I already had FULL installation, reinstalled it: no such directory as mozilla.
It would be quicker to have the 2 plugins files posted or on separately download.

During the installation of VLC media player a window should appear asking what sort of plug-ins you'd like to install along with the media player and there are a bunch of checkboxs there, select Firefox plug-in.

I dont think you understand when I say I did check that checkbox and NO there is no mozilla folder nor even one file with "mozilla" in its name.

I did EVERY SINGLE STEP mentioned, checked MOZILLA pluggin, and I dont have a ...\VideoLan\VLC\mozilla
folder nor any *mozilla* file in it.

WIth 0.8.6d i also dont have this plugin. But if you download for example some nightly build, you will have it. I downloaded archive, not installer. Extract it somewhere and there you go, new awesome mozilla folder ;P

In the Firefox URL box enter:

Code: Select all

about:plugins
If the mozilla-plugin-vlc is installed then there should be a "VLC Multimedia Plugin" section. In that section all of the file/MIME types (e.g. MPEG, WAV, WMV etc.) that will be played using the Mozilla plugin will be displayed.

If not all of the MIME types you want to be played using the Mozilla plugin are there then reinstall VLC again, and ensure that in the "Choose Components" section that in the "File type associations" section the desired file/MIME types are selected to be associated with VLC (also ensure the "Mozilla plugin" tickbox is ticked too :)).

Cheers, Arite.

Hy there

I have just installed the latest Videolan on my XP pro.
I have the opposite problem: the videolan plugin is associated with too many mime types (eg. video/x-ms-asf etc.)

I am not able to de-associate Videolan: i tried to deinstall and reinstall uncheking the mime in the installation procedure, but they are associated nevertheless.
I tried also to use the resource broser > tools > folder options > file types but with no success.

Is there an entry on the registry or something I can manually disable?

Thank you for any help

Best regards

G.
