-When I want to convert/save a video, which is the best coding ?

-what are the difference between MPEG PS, MPEG TS and MPEG 1 ?

Depends on how you define "best".

Regarding "quality per bitrate" I'd say H.264 but it's not straightforward to play it on any platform. If you have it in a MOV container together with mp4a then Quicktime will play it happily and apparently also RealPlayer, or so it seems.

i use
h.264
320 / 240
300bits for video stream

and for storage, h.264

720/ 420

800bitrat

700 mb xvid on h.264 can be compressed to 600 mb to 500 mb h.264 at 500 bitrat looks pretty much like xvid on 800 bitrat encodes :shock:
