Auto Play on Mac

Hi there, does anyone know how to stop autoplay when you've just downloaded a movie file? I keep being interrupted when I'm already watching something else and it's getting rather annoying. I'm using a macbook with 10.5.1.

If you're using Safari (which I suspect you are), it's a Safari thing, not a VLC thing. In Safari, in the menubar go to Safari > Preferences > General. Then uncheck "Open "safe" files after downloading."
