I am not sure if VLC covers it, but I cannot open a .VOC file with that player. So, I request if anyone can find a way to create a .VOC plugin.
It seems it's not a common audio file, mainly because only a few has ever played and/or convert a .VOC file. Also, I believe it was compressed by the use of a RCA recorder. I don't know, because it's a file from a friend who doesn't have a microphone, just a recorder.

It's the format used by http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/ voice recorders (I hope they all use the same variant of this format)
I also can't play these files on my mac, it would be so great if VLC could play them.

there is a online-converter, it works for my recordet files but I dont feel convenient uploading my recordings and it would be great to be able to just play them without converting.
Still, if someone can teach me to use this program to convert them on my mac, I would be very thankfull too!!!
