Trying .wmv on Mac OSX

Hi,

Can I watch a .wmv file on VLC in a Mac OSX?
I have this window saying:
main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `WMV3'. VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
What program should I use to watch that kind of format in a Mac OSX?

VLC does not support WMV3. (no open source decoder is available)
The only player that MIGHT be able to read such a file is microsoft's media player.

Please search the forums before asking such a question.

WMV3 is not supported by any application under OSX except Windows Media Player 9 (which has really bad support of it btw.) and won't be supported in the future since it is a proprietary format and no open-source decoder of does exist.

There is no support of WMV3 even by Media Player 9...

Very frustrating. Just try to explain author of these file that thei files are not cross-platform and ask them to use a cross-platform encoder.

You can also ask to a Windows geek to convert these file in a friendly format.

There is WMV3 support for WimP9 on the mac, but it only works with asf files, not with avi.
