Mini dvd to mp2v and mpa film skips problem

I cant seem to encode 1.4GB MINIDVD to a mp2v file with mpa 192 audio..When i do play it back it skips alot of the video but strangly enough it shows about the same size as the dvd original file..Does anyone know what im doing wrong? Weird thing is i dont seem to have any trouble from a 4.7gb to the mp2 and mpa file...Thanks help really appeciated Rhurbarb
