Help with Player

Postby Sinta » 23 Jul 2007 02:13

Hi I'm new and i'm desperate for some help. I have been usingh VLC for a while now. All of the sudden it just stopped working. I keep getting the "The application VLC media play quit unexpectedly". I have no idea what to do. I tried deleting and reinstalling. I tried preferences. Everything I can think of. If you can help, i would be thankful.

Thanks
Sinta

This is not really a reply, but just to say that the same things happen to me here in southern France. I have a Powerbook G4 Version 10.4.10. VLC either quits and then gives the possibility of a report to Apple, or it goes silent and then the picture "freezes". Nothing seems to remedy it. I thought that it might be a problem because of where I live, but I think not. Any suggestions forthcoming would be gratefully received.

Both of you should run the Delete_Preferences script provided on VLC's disk-image to really clean every preference file, as you probably missed some of them. There are some other except for org.videolan.vlc.plist ;)

Thank you very much for that suggestion - it sounds as if it could be the right thing. However, and forgive my ignorance, where do I find the Delete Preferences for VLC?

it should be on the disk image for vlc (the one you downloaded to install the player)

if you deleted that image you can always fetch another from the site.

(protip, it's best to copy everything on the image to a folder marked with the VLC version number in your apps folder, the notes and scripts are almost always useful eventually)
