Help with wedding video please

Postby mikepalmer2403 » 07 Jul 2007 17:47

Hi there,

I have a Mac and my brother has sent me a CD with some video from a recent family wedding.

The disc has 4 folders
CDI = empty
MPEGAV = some .DAT files
SEGMENT = 1 .DAT file
VCD = has entries, info, lot, psd .vcd files

I can play the files in MPEGAV using VLC and everything is great. But when I try to open them in Quicktime or iMovie the sound disappears???

I tried exporting from VLC but the 100mb file reduced to 22mb and then couldn't open in anything??

Please help as I have promised to burn a DVD for the wedding and am completely stuck...

Thanks in advance

Try Perian. It is a plug-in for Quicktime it alows Quicktime to play almost the same amount of codecs as VLC. Lately I have been having better results with Perian then with VLC. As for what you are trying to do you need a program to allow you to reencode that video file to a DVD format like VOB. Anyways try Toast. You should be able to just drop the vidoe files in and burn a DVD. It should reencode them and then burn as a DVD. Hope this helps a little. I have a disc like this. It was working with VLC, but there have been some updates and now it does not work any more. Very frustrating.

The Perian website says they are retiring it.
