How to start with a new translation?

Postby Renato71 » 29 Jun 2007 17:05

Hi,
I've decided to create a translation into Croatian, but I cannot find any guidelines as how to do it. I've been working on several other localizations (Fedora, KDE, Opera...) and I know how to use PO files and CVS and SVN access.
Any possibility for me to get SVN (or wahtever is needed) access to translations/locale folder? I rather use some offline then online (rosetta or alike) method.
Many thanks,
Renato

Ask xtophe to give you a new .po file.

http://www.videolan.org/developers/ => translations.

po file is a file containing original (english) messages, and possibly their translation in a language, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gettext

there is one po file per language, see https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/browser/trunk/po
