Status bar short to long filename, start menu when fullscren

How do I make the bottom status bar display the full path, instead of the short path name?

So annoying, I swear I knew how....

Plus the start menu is still visible when I choose fullscreen....

are you sure it isn't too long to fit into, and then the filename may be truncated ?

which Operating System do you use ?

The entire path is short, (eg: c:\starga~1\Season_6\st9e9a~1.avi).

And why the hell is the start menu visible when fullscreen? But other fullscreen applications work fine!

I think it may have to do with the version of VLC player....

Anyone know a good version?

The start menu appearing in full-screen was due to wallpaper mode....

I wish long files names worked. Help?

You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. The short file name is the DOS counterpart. Long file names won't fit in the player. Personally I would prefer just the name of the file and not how I got there, as I already know this.
