Nightly (vlc-0.9.0-svn-20070615-0000) doesn't play AVI's.

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Nightly (vlc-0.9.0-svn-20070615-0000) doesn't play AVI's.

Postby PaceMaker » 15 Jun 2007 02:13

The Nightly build (vlc-0.9.0-svn-20070615-0000) doesn't play any AVI's I've tried. I'm assuming this is well known, but I'll put the details here just in case.

This is under windows 2000. The avi's play o.k. in 0.8.6b.
1. Start VLC.exe
2. Select Media-OpenFile
3. Select abc.avi
4. Select Play-Enque
5. Crash (The instruction at 0x78001cf7 referenced memory at 0xffffffff. The memory could not be "read"). The crash appears to be in libvlc.dll.

Is there anything else I can report to help?

those are alpha versions. We are working on it.

You may try to use vlc.exe -Iwx to contourn the problem.

Does this help?

Hi,

Do reports like this help the developers? I like to try things out in the Nightlies, but if I'm just stating the obvious, there is no need.

What else would help the developers with respect to testing nightly builds?

Yes, that helps us, especially when your reports are more detailed.

Hey, if anyone has comments about the new QT4 interface you can post those in this thread: QT4 Consolidation Thread (All QT4 Related) as requested

If it's about bugs, those can be reported to the Trac.
