xvid?

I have a file in xvid format. (it actually says xvid-TLF I don't know if that matters). I didn't think VLC could play xvid files so I got the xvid componant for quicktime but that doesn't work either.

Is there any way to play xvid files with VLC?

In my experience VLC plays xvid files perfectly out of the box.
