Skin Concept..

Postby VLCBaby » 30 May 2007 10:51

I am having difficulty in figuring out how to make skins for vlc. I just don't know where to begin. But I have come up with an idea for a skin and wonder if it would be possible in vlc to make a skin that looked like this, or very similar.

this is just an outline of the final skin I have in mind, the GUI will be a little more graphical and come in multiple color schemes. any information that could be more direct about vlc skinning would be helpful.

You should read the skinning documentation, and have a look at existing skins (unzip the .vlt files, or un-tar.gz them).
Apart from the menus which are impossible to do like this, the rest seems doable.

Just wanted to say that your skin concept looks nice. It's unique, but really neat. But it looks like it's built too much around videos. :( Might be a little too intrusive for just music.

BTW, it is possible to create menus like how you want. Take a look at the Airflow skin!
