then change it to say all of the features of the vls and more can now be found in VLC. Usage of vlc instead od VLS is adviced.

transcode all files from a playlist file.

if vlc can out put all converted files, from a list of files to a single folder, without we having to specify a file name and extention.

this is useful when say we have an mp3 player and drag and drop a bunch of audio or even video files to the transcoder's window and ask it to convert them all to mp3 with the out put folder being the mp3 player's directory. if this is used with the automatically detect minumum required bitrate for each file for no reduction in quality feature I requested, vlc can be a boon to all those people who have primitive mp3 players that play nothing other than mp3. No AAC, no OGG Vorbis, No WMA, No FLAC, No ATRAC, NO VIDEO TOO.

hey DJ, do you think these features can be seen in VLC 0.9 ? or atlease VLC 1.0??? are these possible at all? Because I carefully concidered the requests to make sure they are things that are possible


and most importantly, why am I not getting any replies here? this thread feels quite dead to me, as if none but me can see it. the features mentioned have widespread practical use.

and now for a request that most will want: can a playlist be transcoaded while it is playing? I hate to wait 1.5 hours to rip a DVD, but watching the movie while ripping will be awssome. all I need is a load of popcorn and food, along with a more comfortable chair.

if you have noticed on a windows desktop, left clicking the mouse, holding it and draging it will produce a rectangle. can a similar methord be used to corp videos in vlc?

What about merging some of the capabilities of VirtualDub? This software is really strong in transcoding, but doesn't have as good a list of codecs as VLC. It does almost everything you asked for, including track separation, cropping, filtering, transcode-while-you-watch. It has no streaming support either. Cudos for MP4 support, my new AppleTV finally can play my videos!

Metalhead: it would make more sense to edit your posts and make one long numbered list of features, so people could quote the numbers and not the whole text of your posts.

this is being posted here because it is opensource, hence you can borrow some code relating the magic wand tool. it can be used to select the region where there are borders in videos and they can be removed. It can be used in simple words to add the effect to every frame

feature to change the wrapper to matroska container is also good. for this particular container, the vlc transcoder can enable adding multiple tracks as chapters.

ok, and now for another request: can you allow on the fly download-and-transcode to a file in the GUI?

I mean, choose a http/rstp/mms link and click save to disc after transcoading.

an option which allows us to hard coad the subtitles into the video(make it a part of the video) will also be welcome. although it will be seldom used in a PC, in other media it finds lots of uses.

RIP support is inbuilt. Open a Disc and use the transcoading wizard to do the ripping. Be warned, output format support is still not very high.

Yes, cdrtools are usable, but apparently nobody is intrested in implementing them. CD Writing abilities are still a bloat IMO, because hardly any use for them can be found.
