Would like to use for PPC2002

Postby johnr » 25 Nov 2003 02:41

Hello,
I have been looking around for a way to stream my music and video from my home machine to my PDAphone. It is running PPC2002. I was wondering if you knew of any Alpha dev on something for these. My other options are less than appealing. Real Helix server, and RealPlayer on my PDA, or Windows Server on my machine. Either way, blach.
Thank you,
John

Older Ipaq Builds Might Help

Postby aenertia » 25 Nov 2003 02:49

http://www.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vl ... v4l/older/

I'm not a pocketpc user but try these builds for ipaqs, I supose it's going to depend on what type of pda your running

That link is for iPaqs flashed with linux. There has been some work to support wince in the past but it has been mostly dead lately. I don't think there ever were a binary release of it

I cannot find any information on these builds. I would be interested in using them, but I do not know what linux I should install, and for which IPAQ version. I would appreciate any information on that subject.

I am not sure we want to do the same thing:

I am ready to flash my IPAQ with a Linux OS to make VLC run: Dnumgis said in his post that this was possible (with builds located at the URL given by Aenertia).
I assume these builds were compiled and tested at least on one target device. Hence, I would like to get more information on that device in order to use the .ipk builds.

On the other hand, I would prefer to use a WinCE-ported VLC. I know that such a version does not exist, but perhaps somebody tried to port the source code (at least a part of it) ?

(I am the "Guest" guy who posted yesterday, now I registered...)

Somebody did port some of the sourcecode, but I don't know how far they came. Also this was some time ago, so it may need some more porting now.
