Firefox plugin displays "no video" on Ubuntu Edgy

Sorry to bring back a dead thread, I have the same problem under Windows with firefox, no embedded videos play at all

It's not dead because they still haven't fixed the problem VLC rox, and the plugin doesn't work, so we're left with still having to have at least one other media player installed so we can all play web-based videos...which defeats the point of VLC in the first place!
