How to set the output video resolution in VLC Media Player

Postby Zhiheng Mao » 02 May 2007 19:37

Hi,

I am streaming video using VLC Media Player and need to find a way to set the output video resolution to 320 x 240 or 640 x 480. From the Player's GUI, the only choice I have is the Scale (1, 0.5, 0.25, ...), but this is not scaling the resolution to the ones I am lokking for. Is there any other way to set the resolution? Thanks!

Scaling in VLC is done as a percentage of the source video and is totally dependent on the source. I find that generally this comes close enough for a handheld so that it will display properly but not perfectly. If you are looking fore a perfect fit try another program to convert files.

Try specifying the height and width on the command line. You will need a calculator to maintain the aspect ratio.
