Two identical workstations - one plays, the other doesn't

Postby w6bi » 27 Apr 2007 06:12

I have two identical Fedora Core 6 workstations. Both are current on updates. Both ran VLC version vlc-0.8.6b-1.lvn6 perfectly yesterday

Today one works, the other doesn't. Running from the command line on the workstation that doesn't, I get:
[bbeach@sunflower ~]$ vlc rtsp://bird-mirror.ucsc.edu/birdie.sdp

[00000310] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `mp4v'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
--------------------------------------------
Can someone point towards a fix or config change? As far as I know, nothing changed overnight on this workstation to break this, but..

Thanks in advance.

Looks like VLC is setup with a different set of underlying codecs.
