media file names

Postby sailor.nir » 27 Mar 2007 03:39

Hi,

I've ripped a Chinese language CD and got its info from MusicBrainz, with filenames modifed to show artist/album name etc.
I get an error trying to load these files in VLC.
Is this a known problem? Can I get around it? Is it expected to be fixed in the future?

Thanx,
Nir

VLC version: OVER 9000!!!
Operating System: It's...blue screen
Location: Heaven? No no. What's that other place that starts with an "H"? Oh yes: Home. ^_^

What kind of error? If you mean that it’s only showing the path of the file: E:/(folder)/(song title)ect…then yes, this will be fixed in VLC v0.9.0. It displays the song or video title, artist, and duration in that order.

One of the things that I’ve noticed is that if you drag-and-drop items to the playlist then it will usually show you the path where these items are located, but if you load the directory (select VLC media player): File > “Open Directory…” then it will load the meta information correctly. So try that out, see if it works.

I'm not sure what you mean. only showing it where?

In any case, the errors are:
main error: no suitable access module for `C:\music\?????'
main error: no suitable access module for `C:\music\?????\?????-01.mp3'

Is this what will be fixed in 0.9? When is that due, BTW?

Needless to say (perhaps), the file plays fine after I rename it.

Also, it doesn't work with either drag'n'drop or 'open file' menu command.

Thanx, Nir
