I just wanted to say a big thank you for VLC, I've tried so many media players, I;ve gotten so many codecs, and i've been frustrated out the wazoo.

Then I find VLC throug a reccomendation, as with anything Im hesitant, but I download and try it. It's brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much. Thank you for your work, and the long hrs all of you must have and are putting into it. Again. Thank you.

Cheers,

Same as Jamian! After installing 10+ viewers and still unabale to see all my video files, I just could not believe VLC would do the job.

I wonder what's different.

And the last surprise, when I eventually read the Howto: my piston friends developped the soft. Vive L'Informatique Aujourd'hui, isn't?

I was in the same boat as the other users, having myself tried numerous media players and still not being able to view some of my video files and getting pretty frustrated... until I stumbled on VLC.

You guys are the --please stay polite--, thank you.

I've been using XINE because of its ability to play anything that I threw at it. That is, until today.

I run Debian, so it's easy to install things like vlc, and I came across a video file that XINE was decoding, but there was no audio. I had installed vlc when it became available in Unstable, for just such an occasion.

VLC decoded it perfectly, no hassle, no fuss. I also note that the cpu load on my machine is lower than I've seen many times with XINE.

So a big Thank You! Now to investigate the "skins" so I can make it look like something other than a WinXP application. Ick. Oh well, can't please everyone, and functionality is more important than good looks.
