Video has no sound

Postby lalakid » 19 Mar 2007 00:53

hi

I'm trying to watch a video i previous was able to normally on Windows ME media player, then Linux, now I cant on Mac OSX 10.4.9 with the latest VLC player.

It's a .wmv file, and it has no sound, even when i use quicktime.

The error msg was:

no suitable decoder module for fourcc `undf'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.

Thanks.

The file is using a unknown or proprietary audio codec that VLC doesn't support. If you are using the latest version of VLC, there is probably nothing you can do to watch the video with audio in VLC.

The string 'undf' is a generic token used in VLC for unknown / unsupported codecs. To determine exactly what codec the file is using for the audio stream, you can try to ctrl-click the file in the playlist window, select 'Information' and go to the 'Advanced Information' tab.

Thanks for the respond. what can i do apart from knowing what the codec the file is using? I cant install the codec for it, right? Is there any other player which can solve this?

Stream = 0
Type = audio
Coded = undf
Channels = 1
Sample rate = 16000hz
Bit rate = 16kb/s

Stream 1
Type = video
codec = wmv2
resolution = 320 x 240

Does this helps?
