Running VLC on Text Console Without X Windows

Thank you for help on compiling the VLC for X11R7 / X.Org / X Windows.

I want to ask: Is it possible to use VLC without X Windows?

(example: svgalib, vesa, fbdev etc)

Is there any parameter/argument or should I recompile VLC for svgalib/vesa?
