v4l2 status?

Postby sjensen » 22 Mar 2007 19:23

Anyone able to tell me what the status of full v4l2 support is in vlc?

VLC does a great job for what I need it for - sending a UDP stream to a Darwin server to be served up to the world. Unfortunately, all the new hardware available (cams, capture cards) are v4l2 only.... which vlc does not (yet) fully support.

Will a cvs/svn/whatever download and build work for capturing from a v4l2 webcam or similar, or will I end up bangin my head in frustration?

Oh,and if V4L2 support ain't there yet, it would make (I think) a great addition to the Summer of Code.

Thanks

v4l2 support is not here sorry. There was some work but unfinished. And it is not a proposition for GSoC (it should take less than 3 months to do it).

But if you feel like a coder... :D
