Technically the “Overlay video output” mode can allow for you’re video cards overlay settings of brightness, contrast, ect to be used, while when disabled it would not have any effect. So yes, even though the “Overlay video output” itself won’t change the brightness of the video, you could probably still change the overlay settings in you’re video card’s preferences, or just reset them.using the "overlay mode" but i specifically took that off coz the overlay mode was too bright :S
