VLC questions

Postby test1234567 » 27 Feb 2007 18:29

1)music through VLC sounds much clearer than through anything else. even through foobar working through itunes via multiplugin. why?

2)how do i set file type associations for VLC?

3)how come if i put goom as the default visualizer (or actually, any visualizer besides now), it doesnt load? it like locks up or something.

4)Sometimes during videos the audio keeps on going after i press stop or pause. also, the audio goes off sync a lot when i rewind and stuff...its really annoying. anyway to fix it?

im using default settings with the wmp11 skin

(1) Because VLC is the best! :D Honestly I’m not too sure. Maybe it’s because VLC uses “High quality audio resampling”. :?

(2) To set the file association you’ll have to reinstall VLC media player, sorry. During the installation, where you choose the plug-ins, scroll down and check the box that associates VLC with you’re media files.

(3) :?: Don’t really use the visualizations, so I can’t help you there.

(4) Might be the video(s) that you’re playing, I don’t know. Maybe you could try to increase the priority of the process by going to: Preferences > Advanced > “Increase the priority of the process” and see if this helps. If the audio goes out of sync, you can use: "ctrl K" and "ctrl I" hotkey to readjust the audio delay up or down.

To point 3, afaik visualizations also use the standard VLC video-output, and vout in skins2 is very buggy, if you want to use visualizations I would recommend you to switch to the normal interface. But I also heard that the vout is currently under redevelopment so I hope the issues concerning vout+skins2 are solved in the near future.
