ratDVD support please

Currently the only thing that plays ratdvd for me is wmp i dont like using that much. Please support ratdvd

I'd have to agree, they should add it. However, DVD playing is incomplete as is.

The author of ratDVD says it should be simple to add support for its' codec.

However, probably the problem is 2 things:

1. Nobody has really ever heard of it (which I hope will change)

2. In order to add support for any codec, the source code is required for porting to other OS's (or so I believe). The author of ratDVD is reluctant right now to release source code, which is because it is still in the semi-early stages

So will the next release of VLC be able to play this format?

Apparantly he is trying to comply

The next release won't support this format in any case, since no more features are accepted at the moment and we are checking & fixing bugs only now.
Perhaps, support will be added in a future release, but do not except that to happen soon.
