An updated VLC for Mac OS X Lion Please !

Is it possible to have the Customized Play speed feature in the new VLC release for MAC OS X Lion ?
Currently, it only does 1.0x, 1.5x, and then jumps to 2.0x. While listening to some online content, 1.5x is too slow and then 2.0x suddenly makes it way to fast. Is it possible to help us, users with more flexibility, 1.6x and 1.75x both intermediate options would help immensely.
