Was anyone sucessful to play a file over upnp/dlna? I can browse the upnp/dlna servers for media but can`t play the files. I tried Windows version 1.2 and 1.3.

Any small hint would be very welcome. I like to setup vlc in a classroom environment.

I use VLC for Windows(32bit/64bit), Mac OS X (64bit) and Linux (64bit) and I can play a file on the DNLA servers (Netgear NAS and Windows).
But, I can't say it's perfectly stable. I think there is a room for improvement.

Synology NAS? I don't have it.

Can you see the media files (not folder) on the DLNA server using VLC?
Can you access and play the media files on the DLNA server using other applications?
Can you upload the log message? (verbose level 2)

Yes right I mean Synology NAS. I can see all the Media Files (with their corresponding Filenames) via VLC, but not play it. I can see and play music files with Foobar2000 over dlna.

When I`m next time in the school i will run VLC with logging, and post it here. Thank you for your reply.

Ok we solved the problem. A proxy server was configured on all clients. They should bypass the proxy for local connections, but it don`t work. Without a proxy it works. Now I have to configure the Proxy Options on the clients.
