feature request: an "upconvert" checkbox for playing DVD's

Hello all.
I know that MPC + ffdshow can "become" an upconverting player:

So my wish would be that VLC have an "upconvert" checkbox when opening a file/disc.

Cheers!

refs: this tutorial for VLC: http://blog.thewombat.org/2008/11/how-t ... media.html however it didn't work for me.

Here's another related idea:
a checkbox "try to accomodate for highly compressed video" (basically it means "use a certain named pre-set" so maybe VLC needs pre-sets first or something like that...)

In the meanwhile, I have "created" an upconverting player by wrapping mplayer (unfortunately until VLC has correct seeking for DVD's, I'm stuck with mplayer) here: http://rogerdpack.t28.net/sensible-cinema for followers. Enjoy!
