Qt4 interface and Skins2 interface are two different things. So they don't look same. And if you have some good GUI suggestion, please share them to us.

I do have a suggestion to the UI, please take a look at it and please do consider it and tell us whether those are possible with VLC.
Here is the link to the post I made:

Code: Select all

GUI is probably the one area where VLC suffers, at least on windows. Mac seems ok :)
Suggestion: add a new sub-menu "view" => "skin", package VLC with a few, and make them easily selectable (and/or one menu item being "download more" or what not). Then people will be able to more easily have their VLC look good :)

another suggestion: make the popup conrol er in full screen mode "translucent" like OS X's DVD Player's is (see also mplayerx).
Cheers!

Here's another one: similar to how in full screen mode, user controls appear "on mouse movement", in windows mode, switch to "minimal view" when user is not moving the mouse over the VLC window. This is how mplayerx behaves and it seems quite nice.

I'd be happy to hack this up if it had a chance of being accepted as a default :)
In general I think VLC could be made to be quite pretty, if accessibility to the skins were easier. Ex: a menu item "download more skins" and easier way to switch between them/use them et al.
