After upgrading from vlc 9.8 to the lastest vlc it seems that mpeg2 recordings of a hauppauge 150 tvcard no longer play.

I got some file information from a windows media player codec pack whitch does seem to play it.
Theres a 11meg sample here https://cid-c96ead1f17b37c22.office.liv ... 131412.mpg
Could someone please fix this.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback and then paste the full resulting log here.

File is damaged/corrupted. Even mencoder cannot fix it.

I tested the posted sample of MPEG-2 video. VLC has problem to play it correctly. Mplayer (UMPlayer) or MPC Homecinema (using own internal filters) can play it very well.
I was just curious, because it is the same like with my MPEG-1 (MPEG-PS) files. The source video is O.K., but a part cutted out of it (Avidemux 2.6) is a problem for VLC to play, whereas it can be played in MPlayer or MPCH.

Yep but on Windows VLC is the only player not able to play this file, even MPlayer can play it.

When doing that vlc crashes, but I did manage to get some erros before it crashes.

repeats these heaps of times
"main warning clock gap, unexpected stream discontinuity"
"main warning feeding synchro with a new reference point trying to recover from clock gap"
File is damaged/corrupted. Even mencoder cannot fix it.
its possible, i have 100's of theses files from 2 hauppauge tv cards and vlc plays none of them, i have a feeling hauppauge may be outputing non standard mpeg2 files
