VLC should show Timecode in (hh:mm:ss:ff)

Postby AntonBauer » 17 Dec 2010 17:31

hello first i like the VLC player most, but my problem is i am an Movie Editor on Windows
And the best Playersoftware on Windows is VLC,

now i have a Problem in Quick Time it is possible to show the Timecode of the Files,
when you are editing an Movie and send this files to somebody to show him which changes you have done its importent to see the timecode, i can burn the timecode In at my Editing Suite but i have to render it and that costs a lot of time

why shouldnt VLC play the files and show me the timecode of the file.

So i have to use Quicktime and "Applesoftware" on Windows realy sucks, the performance is very bad

so please give me a chance to use in future my loved VLC and not this bad Quicktime

and a frame back button would be also nice, i know VLC is for Networks but you also build on an editing Software so you could put this hings in VLC and make the Editors around the world happy

THX
Anton

Timecode could be doable, I guess, with some work...
Frame back is a no-go for VLC, unless we have some massive time spent on it, and I don't see that happening except if we have a lot of cash coming in.

I'm looking for a similar thing. My camera, on playback, shows the actual time the video was made, and the GPS coordinates as an overlay on the screen. All this data is encoded in each frame. Seems to me this could be grabbed and overlaid on the playback in VLC just like it does on the camera. As I am not a programmer I haven't a clue as to how to do it, though.
