sound stuttering on pause

When I hit spacebar to pause, I hear about half a second of stuttering, which is a little annoying to my ears.

This is not a big deal, but I think it should be easy to fix. I think it's just the old sound buffer data is being sent to the sound card. Perhaps as soon as the video is paused, the sound buffer should be cleared (zero'd out). That should do the trick.

Windows 7 64-bit, realtek alc888, vlc 1.1.5

I too have seen this occasionally. This time around it started happening right after Windows installed the default drivers for my sound card. I'm going to install the drivers from Creative and see if it continues (though I don't expect it to because I had not had this problem the last time I used the official Creative drivers with this card).

Nope, using the latest official drivers did not fix it. :-|

No, the drivers wouldn't have any affect. It's a VLC issue.

Any developers with insight on this? Any plans to fix?

I would guess that this one of those issue that cannot be properly fixed with current VLC architecture.
