Please, add more details if you have way to make VLC crash (I can open trac tickets).
so i request to make streaming more smooth and without buffering even in slow internet connection in next release.....
Nothing we really can do here. Settings are left for users so they can find best working codecs, muxers etc. for their needs.

It would help if you tell us how do you do it now? Via command-line, via GUI etc.

so you're saying playback sometimes hangs or crashes, when playing back movies from a url? For example? Any error log messages (http://wiki.videolan.org/Basic_Troubleshooting)? is your CPU usage at 100%? which version of VLC?

Aahh... I was thinking you mean that you have issues when you use VLC as streaming server. But clearly you meant VLC as client. Sorry that I misunderstood you.

You have some URL we could test?

Ok here is the link of inception movie...
This movie is for mobile...I mean its in avi and compressed...
But still vlc sucks a lot..While playing it...
In version 1.1.4 this movie used to stop about after 1 minute or so...
In version 1.1.5 the movie is running but stucking like a hell...I cant watch it..It stucks after every second...
http://downloads.fzdownloads.com/attach ... _1_avi.avi
here is another link..This one too sucks a lot and stops after some time..
http://www.frendz4m.com/attachments/29/ ... y_Tail.avi
__
i wanna point out some bugs...
- if internet connection gets disconnected while playing...We cant resume video from that point...It will play from start again..

- in avi videos it doesnt show the actual time of video and the scale doesnt move too...
It cant stream mkv format

-there is a option to start streaming from a certain time point in the show more option..It doesnt work

and it cant stream big size videos like 700mb too...Without stucking...
__
pls make this http streaming option good...Solve this stucking and crashing(stopping) video thing....Make it smooth pls...
Its a unique feature..Make it best too...

so you're asking for improvements in the client to make it stream better?
Also if you download the file locally does it play all right?

AVI files aren't meant for streaming. Specially with HTTP the index of AVI isn't transferred correctly so you cannot seek (and timecodes are no show).

@rogerpack
yup thats what i am saying...Make the client best...
And if i download the file and than play it works perfectly...No problem at all
__
@vlc_help
but you can atleast improve the streaming....Specially for http and avi format...Make it smoother
if you can do for other formats too...Than its a jackpot....
Mkv doesnt stream...

Works just fine in here. High bitrate of HD video might naturally cause issues if you or the server has slow connection, but there isn't anything that can be done in that front (except getting better connection).
