Bookmarks Please?

Just stopped by to update my install of VLC to the latest iteration and was hoping by now we would have the bookmarks working. We still do not. Is it really this hard? Every DVD has an individual serial number. Bookmarks would be at note pad document with a bunch of serial numbers and corresponding chapter and times in it:
4566987321264 chapter 2 4:34
12:02
chapter 8 9:17
1344313454535 chapter 12 15:48
Seriously, it's 2010 and we STILL can't bookmark DVDs. Even Power DVD gives you the option of resuming playback when you start up a DVD you left unfinished. Sorry, but it's just sad.

It's the same with any media file, like podcasts for instance. I cannot believe that VLC still doesn't have persistent bookmarks. Just can't comprehend it.

I can save my bookmarks for DVD's that I have copied to my HD. It is restricted to chapters however. If I play a chapter and bookmark it then save as a playlist my bookmarks are there when I reopen that chapter from the DVD menu. This works for me because I only like certain chapter segments enough to bookmark them. When I play my DVD's (loaded on my HD) I start by clicking the playlist file and immediately VLC starts and my bookmarks are all there! I hope this is some help! You will see your bookmarks when you click your playlist file and then click Playback and Manage once the video starts!

Why are bookmarks not available in the media browser? I want to add a bookmarked stream to the media browser.
Will future versions be able to edit more than the name of a bookmark? add other bookmarks with copy/paste or typing?

Oddly enough the bookmarks are visible in the playlist file. I saved in both .m3u and .xspf formats and both show the bookmarks. It's just that VLC won't load them even if I open VLC and load the playlist file instead of loading the movie. If I open the files in TextEdit I do see the bookmarks. I'm using version 0.9.9a on Snow Leopard.
