DLNA Streaming To Devices

I recently played around with a new Sony LCD TV that supported streaming video and audio files from PC's on the same network by means of the DLNA protocol.
I also noticed how most of the software for doing this is utter crap with awful GUI's and dysfunctional options.
Basically everything but XBMC is utter crap.
The transcoding powers and sane-ness of VLC would blow away all other software in this category if DLNA support could be added to VLC.
Is it on the agenda?
