control lacking when playing audio files

I have stored many of my movies on a file server. When I play the movie, there is no control to start the movie other than click on forward. For example, the Play, Special Features, etc items that appear on the Man Menus are not useable. No doubt this is a great Media Player. My post is meant only as a possible feature that could be added if possible.
