Separate volume control

Is there a way to control VLC's and Windows' master volume separately? It was a really good feature on versions prior to 1.1, but now using the volume control shortcuts on keyboard, etc. would just toggle the VLC's volume when it's selected so now there is actually no control over Windows' master volume while watching videos with VLC. It would be nice to at least make an option for it.

I don't know if it actually matters to anyone else but it was a very important feature that only VLC would offer.

Yeah, in 1.1 when I use the volume buttons on my keyboard BOTH VLC and Windows Master Volume are adjusted!

Ok, it's been noticed and reported, but the suggested behavior in that Bug report is NOT what I would like to see. I want VLC to completely ignore my media keys. If VLC is going to mess around with things like media keys there really needs to be a section in the preferences so we can adjust/disable these settings.
