Bookmarks or Favorites for frequently-played URLs?

Unless there is already a way to do this I think it would be a good feature for future versions of VLC Media Player.

There are several live streams that I access frequently with VLC. It would be great if I could simply bookmark the URLs for these streams rather than having to type them into the "Open Network Stream..." menu.

You can add the URLs to playlist.

I wasted 15 minutes to understand how it would work with Playlist. I had the URL in my playlist, closed VLC, reopened it - and now the playlist was suddenly empty again, all URLs were lost, and not appearing even in File > Open recent menu. You have to remember to save it (File> Save playlist), and when you next time open VLC, then you need to open file, find the file (remember where it was saved and under which name) and open it. Then it starts first stream automatically, which also is not required in my case. Finally, you would have mess of many playlist files by end of the day.

Bookmarking should work more easily, just like in web browsers, without requirement of messing with extra files each time for this.

How does one go about adding a URL to the media library? Im using macOS VLC

First, make sure the Media Library is enabled.

Go to Settings --> click Show All at bottom left --> select Playlist in left menu --> check Use media library --> click Save.

Then in your VLC window where you see Playlist in the left column, you should now see Media Library under Playlist. Select Media Library and the open a network URL as you normally would and it will appear in the Media Library. Switch back to Playlist if you don't want futher URLs to appear in the Library.
