Ship the windows build with the "YUV->RGB conversions" off

Postby kurkosdr » 24 May 2010 19:08

Hi. Here is the easiest feature request ever.

Since all Windows graphics card drivers since 2007 seem to have their YUV->RGB conversions broken, why not ship the Windows build of VLC with the "Use hardware YUV to RGB conversions" option disabled in the default settings? Please?

PowerDVD and others seem to use a similar method to get around the YUV -> RGB problem.

Yes, I know, not technically VLC's fault, but lot's of people (both in this forum and in the university I am in) have this problem.

By doing this, VLC would one of the few players out there that provide true color fidelity out of the box (PowerDVD needs to have it's 'vivid color' feature disabled). This would be a big advantage for VLC.

No, this is slower.
And all graphic drivers aren't broken....
