smaller Speed increments

Postby chiuchimu » 24 Mar 2010 07:38

Speed of play control is already built into VLC. But it increments at 10% That is too big a step for some purposes like Karaoke or to practice musical instruments with VLC. It would be nice if a floating toolbar can pop up and have a slider with buttons to allow increments of 1% speed adjustments.

Then, I can uninstall my winamp. This is the last reason I still have winamp on my computer, I use VLC for everything else!

I have not yet utilized VLC Player, however, I am looking for a program that would allow me to speed up the playing of a movie by, for example, 1.4X, etc. I had been led to believe that VLC Player has this capability. Is my assumption correct? Thank you.

Yes VLC can do this. When playing a video clicking on the ">>" button and the right-hand side of the slider bar will increase speed (one click will go to 1.50x).

If you want to do e.g. ~1.40x, as j-b said above, right click on the speed label (bottom of the window) and use the slider. Or you can just use the hotkey "]" to increase it by 0.1x each time ("[" decreases by 0.1x).

I'd also like to know how to do this. Controlling the playback speed with greater precision would be greatly helpful. I've tried using the vlc.input.rate command but no luck.
