Play movies directly from .RARs

Postby bsmith1051 » 16 Mar 2010 17:29

I would like to be able to play a file (e.g. movie) from within a set of RARs, i.e., without having to extract the file first. This is a feature in XBMC so I know it's possible.

Thank you!

While rar playback is possible, it's not possible to playback a rar compressed video if it is still loading all the way to completion.

Lets say we have a rar compressed video downloading. We have 1 of 4 files already. We can start playing back the 1st file but even if the rest of the files download before we're done reading the 1st file, VLC doesn't check for subsequent files and just stops playback when it reaches the end of file 1.

Is this something that can be addressed?

VLC 1.1.0 stable hasn't been released yet if that is what you are asking.
