Media center software using VLC as native player

does one exist using VLC as the native player?

I know there was a plugin used for MCE2005 but i am on windows 7 and could not get the plugin to work. i am wondering if there is one that exists or not? i am not exactly what you would call a loyal fan to MCE but if there is a updated plugin that will work with the new wmp12, i would totally use it. Any information would be helpful, as seeing i have tried installing codecs to wmp12 before and they do not like mkv files with subtitles, etc. its like if i could use a format like VLC with that program, that would be heaven on earth. *shrugs* it maybe kind of a ridiculous request, but i think alot of people would use it.
