Option to not autostart playlists

Postby samwyse » 03 Nov 2009 16:12

I've got playlists for each season of various TV shows. When I open a playlist via my system's file manager, VLC immediately starts playing the first episode, which is annoying. I'd like to specify within the playlist that I just want to open it in the playlist editor, not start playing. I've seen other feature requests involving playlists; perhaps thay could be combined into a general playlist option editor.

Related to this, it would be nice if there were some way to track where you are in a playlist, so that when you open a playlist, you jump immediately to where you left off. I believe that iTunes supports this.

I'm a pretty good Perl and Python programmer, so writing a script for all of this in Lua isn't too frightening to me. I mostly lack the time to fully learn Lua and research exactly how to do things like this. If someone would be willing to assist, I'd be willing to tackle writing an extension for this. Thanks.

When you transfer the code for your playlist to it's place, there will be an option for autostart or not. Without going into a great amount of detail to talk you through getting your playlist which you currently have to autostart.
It would be easier for you to just resend the code and choose the autostart option at that time.
