Clear Playlist When Adding a New File

I have been looking for an option on Windows VLC to clear the playlist automatically when opening a new item. The result I am trying to achieve is that when you open a new file, folder or playlist, it clears the previous playlist instead of adding to it.

I have tested this with individual media files and with playlist files.

I have tested with the Enqueuing option on and off.

I have searched for this extensively and can not find any documentation about an existing feature on any of the OS builds.

I realise this feature could probably be achieved via an HTML interface by using the vlc.playlist.clear command prior to vlc.playlist.add.

Hi Staincross,
I am using the VLC version 0.9 point something and it gives me the option of adding a new file to the current palylist. The latest version of the VLC is 1.0 try to download it. I think your default player for playing the files is different not the VLC player. First make all the files default player as VLC. To do that right click on the file click openwith and in that chose VLC and the click the box at the bottom which tell you the default opening of file. Now all you need is not the double click on the file but just right click and you get the option of adding the file to the current palylist.
