Screensaver fix/option?

I would like to request the following screensaver behavior for VLC. When a video is paused the screensaver should be re-enabled instead of remaining disabled until the video is stopped. Maybe an additional option in the prefrences could be added to allow this behavior? I think its standard video player behavior to save monitors? I ask as I use VLC constantly and I am afraid of getting image-burn-in while pausing a video to attend to something that could go on for a few hours.
