.VGZ Support

I tried to play an audio file which has the extension ".vgz", but it does not seem to work. I've tested the file with a plug-in for another program and it works.

edit:
---------
DigitalVDO Compressed Video File

I guess it's a video file, but the file I was trying to play is just audio.

It originally came in a .zip file which I already unzipped. I used gunzip on the .vgz file and all it does is make a file called "gztemp". When I try to open it in VLC player I get the following:

"VLC can't recognize the input's format:
The format of 'F:\Music\Music3\\Streets_of_Rage\Streets of Rage (Bare Knuckle)\Streets of Rage - Stealthy Steps.vgz' cannot be detected. Have a look the log for details."

It's .vgz (not .gz)

I know this thread is very old. Will VLC (computers and iOS) ever support it? I know WinAmp has plugins for it. Maybe VLC needs that too.

If you mean on-the-fly GZip decompression, VLC supports it since version 1.0, but it prevents seeking.
