Gain

Postby Ian.Y » 23 Feb 2009 13:14

Hi,

I was wondering if you guys could add a system to automatically or manually adjust volume 'Gain' output?

Most films and musics don't have the same volume so you either have the music too loud or too low but rarely at the correct volume. Now of course you can adjust the volume but some of those files even on full blast (speakers on full + PC volume on full + VLC on full) can barely be heard (especially as I'm getting older! ), possibly because they were encoded without any Gain at all.

So I and possibly lots of other people I am sure could really use such a system :)

Thanks

There is already a volume filter named normvol in VLC.

Tools -> Preferences... (Show settings: All) Audio -> Filters. But Normalization ain't same as Gain.

Yes I also found that there's an option Gain up to +20% which is very good.. is there a chance this could be extended to +40% or +x% ?

pretty please :)
