Support for TF7700HSCI .rec files

Postby TK1975 » 20 Feb 2009 21:32

Hello VLC team,

are you planning to support .rec files of satellite receiver Topfield 7700 HSCI? As far as I know it records the MPEG stream from satellite like other Topfields that are already supported, but the file header does not seem to be recognized at the moment. I'll be glad to provide test files.

Thanks,
TK

Well, providing specifications would be more usefull... Why people keep doing non-standard headers is out of my understanding.

I also don't understand why they use a different header in each receiver model. The problem is that even in the Topfield forums there is no one who knows the exact structure of this header - but since VLC plays already some types of .rec, I hope that by providing test files I can assist by extending the functionality to the 7700 HSCI.

Can you post a link to which I could upload some examples?

I am not sure, but did my uploads arrive? I used the upload form I found on the link you posted, but after uploading I get the message "VLC version not set" although I entered it.

I have got problems with a TF7700 HCCI (Cabel-Receiver) compare my posting here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=751&p=227095#p227095. If there is anything I can provide to help improving VLC regarding this issue, please let me know.

(Un)Official specs for changes are the best option. Other thing might be asking direct support from Topfield, but I am guessing someone has already tried that. Naturally you can hire a coder to figure out and patch out the issue.

It is improbably that Topfield will give any user official specs to any users, because that is their know-how to earn money. If you mention "(Un)Official specs" do you know a proper source to start looking terefore?
I will try to contact the Topfield support pointing out the problem and mention that the FAQ's concerning vlc 0.8.5 are not correct (see the other thread), but I have no big hope, that they will provide usefully hints.
