Reset capture stream timer

Postby publius » 18 Jan 2009 07:23

Gentlemen:

One of the things I use VLC for is viewing, via a capture card, video being played back from a LaserDisc player. I have timed subtitle files (mostly SSA & JacoSub) which go with many of the discs. At the moment, subtitling (with 0.9.8a on Windows XP Pro SP3) is not working : I get no subs, either on the captured stream or with playing back a randomly-selected video file from my hard drive -- errors include "subpicture heap is full". I understand you are working on subtitle problems for VLC 1.0, & it is not the subject of my request.

I would like to be able to reset the time value for the capture stream. The main purpose of this is to sync the subtitles -- by the time I have initialized the capture device & am ready to start playback, the clock is often beyond 5 minutes (making capture settings persistent would also help, but that is not the main issue), & if I play two videos in a row, the clock is of course beyond 30 minutes. This makes synchronizing the subtitles to the video difficult to say the least. If I could hit a button or hotkey & reset the clock when I push "Play" on the LD player, I could then manually sync the subtitles with little trouble. As it is, even closing VLC player & then starting it again does not reset this clock.
